Constantly developing
On February 15, 1997, Phu My Thermal Power Plant was born with two first simple cycle gas turbines under Phu My 2.1 project having total capacity of 288 MW. On October 04, 2005, Phu My Power Plant was transformed into Phu My Thermal Power One Member Limited Liability Company (normally called as Phu My Thermal Power Company). On June 01, 2012, as per the Minister of Industry and Trade’s decision, Phu My Thermal Power Company was transformed into Power Generation Corporation No.3 One Member Limited Liability Company on the foundation of reorganizing and restructuring Phu My Thermal Power Company, financially dependent power generation companies, power generation project management boards, and taking over the ownership of state capital in some power generation companies under Vietnam Electricity. Accordingly Phu My Power Plants are directly managed by Power Generation Corporation No.3.
Phu My 4 and Phu My 1 under Phu My Thermal Power Company
Up to July 09, 2014, Phu My Power Plant had contributed to the country 200 billion kWh of electricity output and had been the first power plant contributing to the country the greatest generation output until that moment.
As of February 15, 2016, Phu My Thermal Power Company has been re-established according to a Decision of Power Generation Corporation No.3, operating according to the authority delegation and authorization of the Corporation.
From being a plant taking charge of management and operation of two simple cycle gas turbines with the total capacity of 288 MW, until now, Phu My Thermal Power Company has been managing and operating four combine cycle gas turbine power plants with 13 power units of different technologies. This is one of the projects being awarded a Golden Trophy by the Ministry of Construction.
With the aim of enhancing power generation output for the national power system, Phu My Thermal Power Company has accomplished upgrading their power plants. Up to this moment, the Company owns the total capacity of 2,540 MW, which is the power generation organization having the biggest installed capacity in Vietnam power system (accounting for around 6.6% of the total installed capacity).
Securing safe and efficient operation
Phu My Power Plants supply more than 16 billion kWh to the national power system annually, representing approximately 26% of the generation output in the South and 11% of the total generation output of the power system. On peak days in dry season every year, the Company generates from 50 – 57 million kWh every day, accounting for roughly 17% of the total generation output of the system.
Having abundant experiences accumulated from 20 years of power plant management and operation, together with the solidarity and accountability, Phu My Thermal Power Company has been constantly growing and actively contributing to the industrialization and modernization cause of the country.

+ Phu My 2.1 Power Plant with capacity of 477 MW.
+ Phu My 2.1 Extension Power Plant with capacity of 468 MW.
+ Phu My 1 Power Plant with capacity of 1,118 MW.
+ Phu My 4 Power Plant with capacity of 477 MW.
- The total accumulated generation output of the Company until April 25, 2017 achieved 247.59 billion kWh.
