Prime Minister works with 19 groups and corporations to promote investment, production, and business

On February 5, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a working conference with the Commission for Management of State Capital at Enterprises (CMSC)  and 19 affiliated groups and corporations on production and business implementation in 2024 and promoting investment for socio-economic development.

Also attending were comrade Le Minh Khai, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister; Comrades of the Party Central Committee: Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, Minister and Chairman of the Government Office Tran Van Son, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, Chairman of CMSC Nguyen Hoang Anh; and leaders of ministries, branches, and central agencies.

EVN makes maximum efforts to ensure power supply in 2024

At the conference, EVN Chairman Dang Hoang An reported that the power supply in 2023 has encountered many difficulties. However, after the Government and Prime Minister's direction, in the last 6 months of 2023, EVN has ensured power supply for the country's socio-economic development.

In 2024, with high determination, EVN has developed a plan with the vital task of ensuring sufficient power supply for the country's socio-economic development with the target of GDP growth in 2024 from 6 to 6.5%, at the same time accelerating construction investment, implementing radical management innovation to improve labor productivity and increase operational efficiency.

Specifically, EVN has developed and reported to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) to approve the power supply and power system operation plan in 2024 to meet the growth rate from 6.18% to 9.15%; Announced and implemented the power supply plan for the peak dry season months (April, May, June, and July) in 2024.

At the same time, EVN continues to coordinate closely with Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV), Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN), Dong Bac Corporation, and Vietnam Gas Corporation in their work to ensure fuel for power production according to signed agreements and contracts; Be proactive in forecasting power demand, closely monitoring power demand developments to operate the electricity system, regulate and effectively exploit power sources to ensure optimal and regulated power supply.

In 2024, EVN aims to complete 190 power grid projects from 110-500kV, focusing all resources on construction, striving to complete Quang Trach - Pho Noi 500kV circuit 3 transmission line in June 2024 under the direction of the Prime Minister. Along with that are power source projects such as completing the Expanded Ialy Hydropower project and two solar power projects Phuoc Thai 2, 3; Commencing construction of the Expanded Tri An Hydropower project and Bac Ai Pumped Storage Hydropower project; and continuing to accelerate the construction of projects of Expanded Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant and Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant.

EVN also innovated the organizational model of EVN and its units, enhancing corporate governance efficiency towards modernity and international standards; Made healthier finances and improved technology levels; Strictly implemented financial management, strengthened the modernization of the financial management system; Seriously implemented solutions to control and improve the efficiency of loan use.

To ensure power supply in 2024 and well implement the 2024 plan tasks, EVN respectfully requests the Government and Prime Minister to direct ministries, branches, and localities to continue to drastically and effectively implement Directive No. 20/CT-TTg dated June 8, 2023, on enhancing electricity saving in the 2023-2025 period; Direct to accelerate the process of amending/developing laws such as Electricity; Renewable Energy, Investment, Management, Forestry, etc. to create a more complete legal corridor in power and energy development; Allow and assign EVN and other key economic groups to invest in large and important power projects; Direct the early promulgation of mechanisms to encourage the development of self-consumed rooftop solar power, etc.

EVN also proposed MOIT and CMSC direct PVN, TKV, and Dong Bac Corporation to coordinate closely with EVN in ensuring power supply in 2024; ensure the reliability of plants/generator units under EVN’s management, especially plants in the Northern region; ensure coal and gas supply according to cooperation agreements and contracts signed between the parties; Regularly inspect and urge the progress of key ongoing power projects and Power Planning VIII projects to promptly direct and remove difficulties and obstacles of the projects...
