Project of Van Phong 500kV substation and connection line: Striving to be energized in November 2022

Currently, all the outstanding site clearance-related problems of the project of Van Phong 500kV substation and connection line have been resolved; materials and equipment have been delivered to and stored at the construction site. The whole project team is determined to complete energizing the project in November 2022.

Project of Van Phong 500 kV substation and connection line:

- Project owner: National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT);

- Project management: Central Power Projects Management Board (CPMB);

- Project location: Ninh Hoa town, Khanh Hoa province;

- Total investment cost: Nearly VND 1,100 billion.

The project of Van Phong 500kV substation has a capacity scale of 2 transformers 500/220kV - 900MVA. The 220kV connection line has a total length of about 26.2km, of which, 2 circuits are connected from Van Phong 500kV substation to Van Phong 220kV substation, 2 circuits are connected to the existing Van Phong - Tuy Hoa 220kV transmission line.

Van Phong 500kV substation project upon completion, together with Van Phong - Vinh Tan 500kV transmission line project, will secure electricity supply forKhanh Hoa province and neighboring provinces; meeting the socio-economic development needs of the key economic region of the South Central Coast; evacuating energy of Van Phong 1 BOT Thermal Power Plant and renewable energy power plants in Ninh Thuan, Khanh Hoa and Phu Yen provinces.

Regarding the land compensation and site clearance, up to now, the whole project site has been cleared and transferred by the local authority to contractors. Materials and equipment have been handed over.

Most of the construction items of Van Phong 500kV substation have been completed. Currently, the contractors have been completing work office for working shifts, security house; installing sewers, grounding, building fences, constructing internal roads.

Regarding the installation of transformers, transformers have been installed in 6/6 phases, oil testing for 5/6 phases has been completed, 1-phase circulating filtration is in progress. It is expected to complete the installation and calibration testing on November 15, 2022.

As for the construction of the 220kV connection line, the excavation, casting of foundations, erection of towers at 66/66 positions have been completed, finishing stringing 23.3/26 km of line and stringing the remaining span length (approximately 2,200 km).

The construction of the extended compartment at Van Phong 220kV substation has been basically completed.

At the meeting to review the project implementation progress on November 11, 2022, the whole project team determined to complete and energize the project in November 2022.
