Coal wharf area of Vinh Tan 2 Thermal Power Plant
Vinh Tan Thermal Power Company has signed contracts with 7 partners for consuming ash and slag with a committed volume of about 1.19 million tons/year, equivalent to about 91% of ash and slag (1.3 million tons/year).
The volume of ash and slag consumption of Vinh Tan 2 Thermal Power Plant has increased gradually over time, from 7.5% in 2018 to 20.99% in 2019, 54.34% in 2020, and 61.3% in 2021. In the first 8 months of 2022, the total volume of ash and slag consumed is more than 1.08 million tons, reaching more than 95%.
Currently, the ash and slag of Vinh Tan 2 Thermal Power Plant have been certified for conformity with a number of codes and standards such as ash and slag as a leveling material; fly ash used for concrete and mortar; fly ash used for road embankment; fly ash as a mineral admixture for roller compacted concrete.
In order to promote the export of ash and slag by sea, Vinh Tan Thermal Power Company has performed the upgrading of the 1,000 DWT oil port to receive ships with a tonnage of up to 3,000 DWT and the 30,000 DWT coal port to receive ships with a tonnage up to 50,000 DWT in Vinh Tan 2 Thermal Power Plant port area.
As for the use of ash and slag to restore the mines, leveling the ground, with the approval of the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province, the company has completed a plan for leveling Hang Co quarry in April 2022. In addition, the company has been coordinating with investors who have demand for ash and slag to make plans for ground leveling such as Vitaco Company, Thong Thuan Company; Trung Nam Group, etc.

Recently, Vinh Tan Thermal Power Company has made efforts to synchronously implement solutions to promote ash and slag consumption, but the volume of ash and slag stored in the yard has not been resolved yet. In order to promote the reuse of the current ash and slag volume of power plants in general, Vinh Tan Thermal Power Company wishes to obtain favorable directions and supports from ministries, agencies and local authorities in introducing potential locations for piloting the use of ash and slag as ground leveling materials for industrial parks and construction works; restoring mines of minerals and building materials which have already been exploited; embankment of road works; as a material for building breakwaters, embankments to prevent erosion in coastal structures, etc., in order to ensure the safe and uninterrupted electricity generation of Vinh Tan 2 Thermal Power Plant, contributing to ensuring energy security of the national power system.

By the end of October 2022, Vinh Tan 2 Thermal Power Plant has produced 5.75 billion kWh, reaching 79.2% of the year plan.
It is expected that in 2022, the plant will contribute more than VND 200 billion to the local budget.
