Promoting cooperation between EVN and Tenaga Nasional Berhad

On May 23, in Hanoi, Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan - President and CEO of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) welcomed and worked with Mr. Dato Indera Ir. Baharin Din - President and CEO of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and the working group.

TNB is an energy player with a 50% share of Malaysia's electricity capacity. Currently, Malaysia has developed an energy transition roadmap, aiming for net zero emissions by 2050. To achieve that goal, TNB is focusing on four main areas in the energy transition, including expanding domestically and internationally renewable energy investment, promoting decarbonization technology, modernizing power grids, and enhancing grid efficiency.

TNB leaders expressed their desire for sustainable development cooperation with EVN in the coming time, especially renewable energy projects in Vietnam.

EVN President and CEO Tran Dinh Nhan affirmed that in the context of all countries having the same green energy transformation goal, support and cooperation between countries in the region are extremely important. EVN's leaders also expressed that EVN is always ready to promote cooperation opportunities with TNB in the energy transition field.

At the meeting, EVN’s leaders and specialized departments also shared a lot of information about the orientation and steps of Vietnam's power sector in the energy transition implementing context, towards the net zero goal of Vietnam by 2050.

The two sides agreed to continue bilateral exchanges in the fields of technology and energy, opening up opportunities for cooperation to successfully implement the energy transition.
