Quang Ngai province: Completing the project of rehabilitating and upgrading electricity grids in 15 communes and towns

The Central Regional Rural Power Project Management Board and Quang Ngai Power Company have just organized energizing the Project of "Rehabilitating and upgrading the distribution grid in Quang Ngai province" in 15 communes and towns in Duc Pho district.

The project has commenced since February 2017, with the total investment cost of more than VND 150 billion, invested and owned by the Central Power Corporation.

Previously, the electricity grid in Duc Pho district had not been synchronously invested. The project upon completion will contribute to reducing power losses, improving the quality of electricity and the safety of electricity supply, promoting the socio - economic development and improving the material and spiritual life of people in 15 communes, towns in the district.

The project "Rehabilitating and upgrading the distribution grid in Quang Ngai province" is one sub-project under the Project of Distribution Efficiency Project financed by the World Bank. According to the project’s design documentation, more than 21 km of medium voltage lines; over 213 km of low-voltage lines and 49 substations with a total capacity of 5,795 kVA will be constructed. Through competitive bidding, the surplus fund of the project has been utilized by the Central Power Corporation to additionally invest more than 30 km of medium voltage lines; over 38 km of low voltage lines and 78 substations with a total capacity of 10,340 kVA.

This is an important project, with the aim of reducing power losses, bettering the quality of electricity, enhancing the reliability and safety of electricity supply, contributing to improvement of electricity standards in new rural construction in Duc Pho district.

It is known that the Central Power Corporation is the project owner of 28 sub-projects of 110 kV power lines and substations; 08 distribution sub-projects and 01 sub-project of smart meters in 13 provinces in the Central region and Central Highlands. The total investment cost of the project as a whole is USD 89 million (equivalent to VND 1,964 billion), of which the World Bank’s loan is USD 67 million, the remaining fund of VND 484 billion is self - arranged by the Central Power Corporation.
