Delegates released fingerlings into the reservoir of Song Ba Ha hydropower plant.
Song Ba Ha Hydropower Plant is located at the last step on the Ba Riverhydropower cascade, with the reservoirsurface area of over 5,400ha. The reservoir has a storage capacity of 350 million m3 of water, which is a very favorable condition for local people to develop aquaculture.
On the occasion of the 131st birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (1980 - 2021) and in response to the World Environment Day on 5 June 2021 with the theme of ecosystem restoration, Song Ba Ha Hydropower Joint Stock Company has held a ceremony to release fingerlings to regenerate aquatic resources in the reservoir of Song Ba Ha hydropower plant.
Accordingly, the total number of fingerlings released this time is 40,000, worth VND50 million, including species of high economic value, adaptable for the local ecological environment, such as grass carp, major carp, tench, tilapia, etc.
Mr. Tran Ly, General Director of Song Ba Ha Hydropower Joint Stock Company said: The fish stocking activity to regenerate aquatic resources will be periodically organized by the Company. This is also an opportunity for the Company to demonstrate its role and responsibility toward the community, contributing to biodiversity and sustainable development of natural aquatic resources in Song Ba Ha hydropower reservoir. Thereby, contributing to creating livelihoods and improving incomes for local people, especially resettled households of the Song Ba Ha hydropower project.
The stocking of fingerlings has many practical meanings in terms of economy, society and ecological environment in order to protect, restore and regenerate aquatic resources which are increasingly being exploited, and at the same time, clean up water sources, protect the environment and keep the ecological balance. This activity also helps motivate people to change and raise their awareness in protection, development and selective exploitation of natural aquatic resources, without using poisons, explosives, or electrical pulses for fishing in order to protect the environment and biodiversity.
