"Some solutions for Vietnam's energy future"

This is the subject of a seminar organized by the Central Economic Committee on April 24, 2018 in Hanoi. Mr. Cao Duc Phat - Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Central Economic Committee chaired the seminar.

In order to achieve the objective of rapid and sustainable economic development, soon enable the country to become a modernity – oriented industrial nation, the Party has paid their great attention to the energy development all the time.

At present, fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas have been utilized to meet a large portion of the country's energy needs. However, these fossil fuels are limited. The research and use of green energy, renewable energy such as wind, solar, biomass therefore becomes an inevitable requirement.

The Central Economic Committee will continue to study the solutions and opinions presented at this seminar to reach the target of renewable energy representing a proportion of 30% in the power generation mix of Vietnam in the near future.

At the seminar, national and international experts shared and discussed two main topics: "The situation of Vietnam's energy development and the role of renewable energy"; "Opportunities and challenges for investment in renewable energy area in Vietnam".

Attending the seminar, the representative of Vietnam Electricity – Vice President Nguyen Tai Anh said: “EVN fully supports the policy of promoting the renewable energy development, in consistence with the development viewpoints in the national power development master plan, which are to prioritize the development of renewable energy sources, to create breakthroughs in ensuring national energy security, to contribute to the conservation of energy resources, and to mitigate adverse impacts on the environment.”
