Son La: Commencing the project of supplying power from national grid to 2,800 rural households

On 12 January, at Pu Ca hamlet, Chieng Bom commune, Thuan Chau district, Son La province, Northern Power Corporation (NPC) commenced the project of supplying power from the national grid to the non-electrified households in Son La province of the year 2016.

The project of supplying power from the national grid to the non-electrified households in Son La province of the year 2016 with a total investment of almost VND70 billion is financed from the budget of EVN and NPC; Son La province is responsible for site clearance and compensation.

First concrete batch being placed for the project

The project consists of the construction of 35.5km of 35kV line; 84.5 km of 0.4 kV line and 6 35/0.4kV substations and installation of 2,823 meters for 25 hamlets of 4 communes of the districts: Mai Son, Song Ma and Thuan Chau - Son La province. The project was selected by NPC as a Welcome to the 12th National Communist Party Congress.

Mr. Ha Van Dung, Chairman of the People’s committee of Chieng Bom commune said, Chieng Bom is a highland mountainous commune with extreme difficulties under Son La province. The commune’s 40% of households are poor ones. The whole commune consists of 30 hamlets with 4 ethnic groups, but just 8 hamlets are connected to the national grid. It is greatly appreciated that the Power sector commenced the project to supply power from the national grid to the residents. It will steadily help the residents to enhance knowledge, to further facilitate the economic development.

As at 31 December 2015, Son La province has 232,200/267,716 households connected to electricity, accounting for 86.7%. It is expected that, in 2016, Son La province will have its 8,300 households connected to electricity.
