Start to formulate  “Vietnam Power Generation Technology Handbook”

The handbook will provide information as the input data to the policy-making community and relevant parties, in the process of developing long-term power planning for Viet Nam - this is the goal of formulating Vietnam Power Generation Technology Handbook which is expected to be launched by the end of 2018.

Workshop on starting to formulate “Vietnam Power Generation Technology Handbook” was organized by the Danish Energy Agency in cooperation with the Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy (under the Ministry of Industry and Trade) on June 6, 2018 in Hanoi.

Mr. Le Van Luc - Deputy Drector of the Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy said that the formulation of the Handbook is part of the Vietnam-Denmark Energy Partnership Program (DEPP), period of 2017-2020. The program consists of three components, implemented by ODA fund from the Danish government with a total value of US$ 3 million. Development of the Handbook is among the first component to provide technical assistance to Vietnam towards the long-term energy sector planning.

According to Mr. Jakob Lundsager –DEPP program’s long-term advisor, Denmark has worked with many countries on energy issues, including Vietnam. In 2017, Denmark has supported the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam to successfully implement the Energy Prospectus. Following that success, Denmark will continue to cooperate and support Vietnam to develop the Power Generation Technology Handbook which is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.

At the workshop, the experts and partners at home and abroad presented modern generation technologies in the world, assessed the current situation in Vietnam as well as the data development for the sustainable development of Vietnam’s energy sector.
