The rotor of Unit 2 weighs more than 400 tons, has a diameter of 6,276mm, and a height of 3,098mm.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Minh - Deputy Director of the Power Project Management Board 2, and Director of the Executive Board of the Ialy Hydropower Plant Expansion Project, before installing the rotor, the contractors completed the installation of the turbine, stator, and machine room crane. The generator rotor and stator have been tested for insulation and high voltage according to current standards.
Successful installation of rotor of unit 2 of Ialy Hydropower Plant Expansion Project
The Ialy Hydropower Plant Expansion Project was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 38/TTg-CN dated 10 January 2018.
When put into operation, the Ialy Hydropower Plant Expansion work will increase the ability to mobilize capacity for loads in the Southern region, especially during peak hours; Contributing to improving the operating mode of the power system (increasing source and peak power of the load curve, increasing flexibility in operation, increasing reliability and safety coefficients, etc.), thereby contributing to reducing production costs of the system; Maximizing the capacity of the flow by limiting the annual excess discharge, increasing the average annual power output value by about 233.20 million kWh/year.
The work also contributes to reducing annual fuel costs, reducing CO2 emissions, and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. The work reduces the operating intensity and time of existing units, thereby extending the life of the equipment, and saving maintenance and repair costs.
Previously, the rotor of unit 1 was successfully lowered on 26 July 2024.
