According to Mr. Pavel Kavina - Director of the Raw Materials Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, the meeting was within the framework of the delegation's visit to Vietnam from October 3-6, 2022. Mr. Pavel Kaniva said that given the fact that the trade turnover between Vietnam and the Czech Republic reached a record of USD 2 billion in 2021, the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade aims to elevate the relationship with Vietnam to the "strategic partnership" level and expand cooperation in many specialized fields, including the energy sector.
Mr. Kaniva wished to strengthen cooperation between Czech companies and Vietnamese partners, including Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and other state-owned enterprises in such areas as providing advanced technologies and services for power plants in Vietnam.
On the side of EVN, EVN’s Vice President Vo Quang Lam confirmed that EVN is interested in improving the efficiency of managing and using coal in thermal power plants; upgrading old coal-fired power plants. At the same time, he looks forward to the opportunity to exchange the Czech Republic's energy transition experience in the coming years. EVN is also interested in the advanced governance model of CEZ - a semi-state energy corporation of the Czech Republic, and its experience in digital transformation.
