Thorough and comprehensive “digitalization” of electrical services

Electricity services are being "digitized" thoroughly and comprehensively. At the distribution stage, customers can request electric service from anywhere. Meanwhile, in the production and business stage, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) is also being promoted by the Power sector.

Electrical services have been brought to the digital space.

As quick as electricity...

Mr. Duong Quang Thanh, Chairman of the Members Board of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), said: “Online electricity services have been strongly directed to implement by the group and have achieved very positive results. In which, 99.67% of customer requests are received through customer care channels and online channels; 97.9% of transactions are done electronically.”

In fact, the power sector's majors were really "as quick as electricity". Even with the electricity payment method, instead of having to go to electricity bill collection points, customers can pay online using many tools now.

In the transfer stage, there are many different methods to make electricity payments such as Automatic account debit, payment via Internet Banking/Mobile Banking, payment at the bank's transaction offices by cash or transfer, payment via e-wallets (ZaloPay, Momo, Viettel Pay, etc.), QR codes scanning, payment at power companies’ transaction offices, etc. according to the motto 24/7 anytime, anywhere.

It is known that the rate of electricity non-cash payment customers in Hanoi and many other localities have reached 100%.

Digitize all stages

Not only in the customer service field, but the power sector is also accelerating the application of digital transformation in most other production fields. Specifically, 100% of 110kV substations (the most common intermediate substations of the Power sector) have been digitized into unmanned substations and remotely controlled from control centers in 63 provinces and cities; 88% of 220kV substations have been remotely controlled (an increase of 18 substations compared to 2021).

In the repair, maintenance, and efficient exploitation of equipment, the Power sector has successfully piloted AI (artificial intelligence) in image analysis to improve the accuracy of the system for operation monitoring and abnormal condition detection of transmission lines.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Trung, Deputy Director of the National Load Dispatch Center said: “EVN has applied AI to monitor rooftop solar power. The graph of percentage error of power capacity forecasting data points can be monitored/forecasted with accurate error levels, helping to allocate and dispatch the power grid in a scientific and precise way, and optimal power loss management”.
