EVN's Deputy General Director Nguyen Tai Anh speaking at the meeting
In the period of 2016-2020, EVN completed and put into operation twelve generation projects with a total capacity of 6,093 MW, approximately 100% of the volume assigned in the 5-year plan (6,100MW). EVN successfully completed ahead of schedule Lai Chau Hydropower Project, Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power expansion project. EVN completed and put into operation solar power projects with a total capacity of 100MWp to supplement the national power supply.
Also during this period, EVN completed and put into operation 1,127 110-500kV network projects (52 500kV projects, 170 220kV projects and 905 110kV projects) with a total length of 13,831km, total capacity of the substations reaching over 90,280MVA.
According to EVN's Deputy General Director Nguyen Tai Anh, in the 2021-2025 period, EVN will invest in developing network infrastructure to ensure overall progress in putting into operation power sources, strengthening links to import power from neighboring countries and meeting power demand for socio-economic development. Regarding power sources, EVN has eight projects with a total capacity of 5,840MW. At the same time, EVN needs to ensure sufficient capital mobilization to meet investment needs (estimated at VND606,000 billion).
However, in the next period, EVN would be facing more difficulties because of reasons such as: Projects implemented by non-EVN investors often do not meet the progress, leading to pressure on EVN in ensuring power supply. Difficulties in mobilizing capital for hot investment would impact on the corporate financial indicators. The policy on site clearance and compensation still shows many shortcomings. Legal provisions on investment in general and on inspection and assessment, appraisal and licensing procedures for environmental protection; processes and procedures for investment preparation and implementation of construction are complex and overlapping, and so on.
