Approval of investment policy and investor of Tan Son Nhat - Thuan An 220kV transmission line project

Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son signed and issued Decision No. 888/QD-TTg dated May 9, 2025, approving the investment policy and investor of the Tan Son Nhat - Thuan An 220kV transmission line project. According to the plan, the project is scheduled to be completed in 2025.

The investor implementing the project is the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) under Vietnam Electricity.

The project investment objective is to form a 220kV transmission line connecting the grid between Binh Duong province and Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to increasing the efficiency of grid investment and supporting the capacity between the two regions; ensuring safe and continuous power supply in operating modes for the load center of Ho Chi Minh City, especially the Tan Son Nhat 220kV transformer station supplying power to Tan Son Nhat airport; reducing the load for the  Cau Bong - Hoc Mon 220kV, Thu Duc - Cat Lai 220kV,  Thu Duc - Nhon Trach Thermopower Plan 220kVND lines; strengthening the connection of the 220kV power system in the region, increasing safety, flexibility in operation and stability for the national power system.

The project is designed on a scale of constructing a 220kV line, including 2 underground cable circuits with a length of 7.8km and an overhead line with a length of 5.4km. For the Tan Son Nhat Transformer 220kV Station (new construction): 2 220kV feeders to the  Thuan An 220kV Transformer Station will be invested synchronously within the scope of the project "Tan Son Nhat 220kV Transformer Station," invested by Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation, and is presently under construction. At the  Thuan An 220kV Transformer Station (existing): Expanding and equipping new 2 220kV feeders to the Tan Son Nhat 220kV Transformer Station; Equipping and completing the new system of control, measurement, protection, communication, and SCADA  for the new feeders during the project implementation in accordance with current regulations and standards.

The project was located in Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong province.
