After four months of intensive construction, Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) successfully energized the Lai Son 110kV Substation (Kien Hai special zone, An Giang Province) on the morning of April 17. The project plays an important role in meeting electricity demand for production, daily life, services, and tourism on Lai Son Island and nearby islands, while contributing to national defense and sovereignty over seas and islands. Mr. Le Van Trang, Chairman of the EVNSPC Board of Directors, directly directed the energization work.
The Lai Son 110kV Substation was launched on December 17, 2025, to celebrate the 14th National Party Congress. The project has a total investment of over VND 101.4 billion, with a capacity of 2x25MVA and a 110kV connection line of 0.03km (two circuits).

The substation is equipped with modern SCADA communication systems, HMI, and surveillance cameras to modernize operation management. This system enables data collection, monitoring, and remote control of substation equipment, contributing to centralized management and automation in the power sector.
The project also includes a rooftop solar power system with a capacity of 23.1kWp, connected to the substation’s 0.4kV auxiliary power system in compliance with regulations and technical requirements.
Once in operation, the Lai Son 110kV Substation will effectively utilize the An Bien – Lai Son 110kV line (currently operating at 22kV), meeting electricity demand for residential use, services, production, and tourism on Lai Son Island and surrounding islands. It will also create momentum for developing light industries, supporting industries, fisheries, logistics, and marine tourism.
In particular, the Lai Son 110kV Substation will supply electricity from the national grid to An Son – Nam Du Island Commune through the upcoming An Son – Nam Du electrification project, which is expected to commence in the near future, replacing the existing diesel power plants.
