EVN Chairman meets with Mingyang Smart Energy

On the afternoon of April 17 in Hanoi, Mr. Dang Hoang An – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) – received and held a working meeting with Mr. Joe Zhou – Global Chief Executive Officer of Mingyang Smart Energy (China). Leaders of both sides exchanged information on potential cooperation in the fields of renewable energy, energy storage, and power equipment.
At the meeting, representatives of Mingyang Smart Energy noted that the company has participated in the implementation of several projects in Vietnam with a total capacity exceeding 1 GW. The group is currently promoting new investment plans in Vietnam, including the development of manufacturing facilities for wind power equipment and energy storage systems, as well as studying the possibility of establishing an innovation and technology transfer center in the near future.

Mingyang representatives expressed their desire to further expand investment activities in Vietnam and to gain a deeper understanding of the development orientation of the national power market to explore cooperation opportunities.
During the meeting, EVN Chairman Dang Hoang An shared key orientations of Vietnam’s power sector in implementing the revised National Power Development Plan VIII, including development potential in wind power, energy storage, and self-consumption rooftop solar, as well as investment needs for grid infrastructure and system modernization solutions. These areas are considered to hold strong potential for cooperation between energy technology enterprises in the coming period.
EVN’s leadership also affirmed that the Group is ready to support enterprises in accessing information, engaging in technical exchanges, and connecting with relevant units to explore cooperation opportunities. At the same time, EVN suggested that Mingyang could organize technology introduction activities, thematic workshops, or equipment exhibitions, thereby enabling power sector units to better access and understand new solutions.
Mingyang Smart Energy operates in the renewable energy sector, with core business areas including wind power, solar power, energy storage, and hydrogen, while also providing equipment and solutions for power grids and energy storage systems. The group has developed projects with a cumulative installed capacity of nearly 200 GW worldwide, with offshore wind power being one of its key focus areas.
On the same day, EVN Chairman Dang Hoang An also held meetings with the leadership of EREX Group (Japan) and a delegation of investors from the Vung Ang 2 BOT Project Company to discuss the implementation status of several energy projects in Vietnam and future cooperation opportunities.
