Recently, Tran Yen Power Company (a member of Lao Cai Power Company) energized and put into operation 6 substations belonging to the Cat Thinh commune electricity work, initially supplying electricity to 205 households in highland villages. It is expected that by June, all 367 households under the project will have access to electricity from the national grid.
The Cat Thinh commune electrification project is part of the Rural Electrification Program from the National Grid in Yen Bai Province (now Lao Cai Province) for the 2014–2025 period, with the Provincial Department of Industry and Trade serving as the investor. The commissioning of the work contributes to expanding power supply to highland and disadvantaged areas, creating conditions to improve the quality of life and socio-economic development in the locality.

According to Tran Yen Power Company, the project has completed the installation and commissioning of 6 substations. These include: one 160kVA-35/0.4kV substation in Khe Ken village; one 100kVA-35/0.4kV substation in Lang Ca village; and four 75kVA-35/0.4kV substations in Pin Pe and Ba Chum villages, with 2 substations in each village.
Immediately after energization, Tran Yen Power Company, in coordination with local authorities, implemented procedures for signing electricity purchase agreements and concurrently organized electricity supply to households within the project area. To date, the unit has supplied electricity to 205 households.
It is expected that by June 24, 2026, all 367 households in the villages of Lang Ca, Khe Ken, Pin Pe, and Ba Chum will be officially connected to the national power grid. Upon completion, the work will not only improve voltage quality but also enhance the power supply capacity for the area, better meeting the living and production needs of the people.
Supplying the national power grid to the highland villages of Cat Thinh commune is of practical significance in narrowing the gap in access to essential infrastructure between areas, creating further impetus for people to stabilize their lives, develop production, and gradually improve their quality of life.
