EVNHCMC celebrates its 50th anniversary and receives Third-Class Labour Medal

On the morning of August 7th in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) held a ceremony to receive the Labour Order and commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Management and Distribution Department (August 7, 1976 - August 7, 2026), the predecessor of today's EVNHCMC.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Dang Minh Thong, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha, Standing Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council; Ms. Nguyen Thanh Xuan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; and Mr. Bui Ta Hoang Vu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade.

Representing Vietnam Electricity (EVN) were EVN Chairman of the Member Board Dang Hoang An; EVN Supervisory Board Head Do Thi Loat, leaders of EVNHCMC and directors of EVNHCMC's affiliated power companies, along with numerous guests from departments, agencies, and leaders of press organizations.

After 50 years, the Corporation has completed the commissioning of 100% of unmanned 110kV substations; 100% of the 22kV public power grid and switching equipment are remotely monitored and controlled; and 100% of customers have been equipped with remote meters. EVNHCMC's smart grid index ranks 41st out of 92 power companies with smart grids worldwide, second only to Singapore in ASEAN, and on par with some developed countries in Europe and America. EVNHCMC currently provides 100% of its electricity services online and nearly 100% of its customers pay their electricity bills in cashless form.

Acknowledging the outstanding achievements of EVNHCMC, especially in digital transformation and smart grids, Chairman Dang Hoang An emphasized: “It is clear that EVNHCMC is confidently entering a new era of growth to continue writing the story of the future alongside Ho Chi Minh City's development. The slogan "Electricity leads the way" is the core and overarching motto of the Vietnamese electricity industry. For the past 50 years, the Ho Chi Minh City electricity sector has excellently implemented this motto, illuminating confidence and accompanying the development of the city named after President Ho Chi Minh.”

On behalf of the Ho Chi Minh City leadership, the Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyen Loc Ha, requested that EVNHCMC focus on effectively implementing key tasks such as: prioritizing power supply to serve the double-digit growth phase; focusing on building a modern, smart, and aesthetically pleasing power grid; continuing to work alongside the city to promote comprehensive digital and green transformation; aligning with sustainable socio-economic development policies; developing a modern power grid in newly merged areas, especially in remote and disadvantaged regions. Ensuring safe and continuous power supply for harmonious socio-economic development in all areas and promoting energy saving and efficient energy use, aiming towards the national Net Zero goal.

EVNHCMC Chairman Pham Quoc Bao acknowledged the directives from higher-level leaders and committed to the goal of continuing to build the corporation into a comprehensive digital technology enterprise, developing to be on par with power companies in advanced countries in the region and around the world, from now until 2030, with a vision to 2045.

EVNHCMC is committed to continuously improving the quality of power supply and customer service with a modern, safe, and reliable power grid infrastructure; developing a smart grid in depth; promoting the development of green and clean energy sources; using electricity efficiently while protecting the environment; and contributing to realizing the aspiration of making Ho Chi Minh City a green, smart megacity and a model and driving force accompanying the country into a new era.

On this occasion, many collectives and individuals of EVNHCMC were also awarded the Labour Order by the President of Vietnam in recognition of their outstanding achievements in labour, innovation, and contributions to the development of the electricity industry. This is not only an honor for the awarded collectives and individuals but also a motivation for all EVNHCMC staff and workers to continue striving for innovation, improving the quality of operations, and meeting the development requirements of the electricity industry and Ho Chi Minh City in the new era.
