EVN and GE Vernova agree to deepen strategic energy cooperation

On the morning of January 22 in Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan – President and CEO of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) – hosted and held a working session with Mr. Ramesh Singaram – President and CEO of GE Vernova’s Gas Power business in Asia (USA), to discuss future cooperation between the two sides.

During the meeting, both parties focused on exploring the potential for cooperation in power generation and grid projects led by EVN, in line with the revised Power Development Plan VIII (PDP8). They also discussed ways to enhance collaboration in technical and technological exchanges, as well as human resource training.

EVN and GE Vernova leadership at meeting on January 22

Representatives of GE Vernova highly praised EVN’s role in ensuring electricity supply for Vietnam’s socio-economic development and reaffirmed their desire to continue partnering with EVN in implementing power projects, particularly in the field of gas power and solutions to enhance the operational efficiency of the power system. GE Vernova also shared its plan to organize the “Future Energy” event in Vietnam in the near future, aiming to create a forum for dialogue on technology trends and the energy transition.

EVN President and CEO Nguyen Anh Tuan acknowledged the fruitful cooperation between EVN and GE over the years and emphasized the importance of further expanding this partnership in alignment with Vietnam’s new power development orientation.

Both parties reached a consensus on the early promotion of discussions leading to the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between EVN and GE Vernova, reflecting GE Vernova’s new organizational structure and the evolving needs of bilateral cooperation.

GE is a US-based multinational industrial group with more than a century of experience in the energy and electrical industries. In Vietnam, GE has provided equipment for various gas power, coal-fired, renewable energy, and transmission projects, while also supporting the mobilization of international financing for key national energy initiatives.
