On July 2, in Hanoi, Mr. Ngo Son Hai - Vice President of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) - held a working session with Huawei Group (China) to discuss a cooperation plan for implementing digital technology solutions in the power sector.

Representing Huawei were Mr. Tao Guangyao - Vice President for the Asia Region, and Mr. Zhang Feng - General Director of Huawei Vietnam.

During the meeting, Mr. Tao Guangyao presented and proposed technology solutions within the framework of the cooperation plan, with a focus on power grid digital transformation, renewable energy development, and application of energy storage technologies. These initiatives align with EVN’s orientation toward building a smart, safe, and sustainable power system.

A highlight of the proposal was the Intelligent Dispatching Solution (IDS), which combines modern transmission technologies and flexible integration of renewable energy sources to enhance operational efficiency, optimize costs, and ensure the safety of the power system.

In addition, Huawei proposed inviting Vietnamese partners to visit an advanced digitalization model - the smart distribution grid in Shaanxi Province (China) - to gain firsthand experience of its operation and the practical application of successfully implemented technologies.

During the meeting, Mr. Ngo Son Hai, EVN Vice President, acknowledged the information shared by Huawei. He emphasized that the next steps in the cooperation should be implemented in a systematic, substantive, and effective manner, closely aligned with the commitments agreed upon by both parties. He also proposed that the two sides continue to coordinate closely and thoroughly review all necessary contents to ensure that the cooperation activities are carried out consistently and practically,  thereby contributing to the development of a smart, safe, stable, and sustainable power grid.

To further deepen the cooperation, both sides agreed to jointly organize a specialized technical workshop in Vietnam in the near future. The workshop will focus on introducing detailed solutions, sharing practical implementation experiences, and creating opportunities for direct exchanges among technical experts, engineers, and managers from EVN’s power companies and affiliated units.

On June 29, at the Vietnam - China Business Connectivity Forum held in China, many major Vietnamese enterprises signed cooperation documents with leading Chinese corporations in the fields of technology, energy, and telecommunications.

Among them, EVN and Huawei signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which serves as the foundation for both parties to collaborate in implementing specific cooperation steps. The MoU aims to support the deployment of digital transformation solutions, the development of a smart grid, the modernization of transmission infrastructure, and the application of clean energy in line with the overall development orientation of Vietnam’s power sector.
