On the afternoon of June 4th in Da Nang, Mr. Dinh The Phuc, a member of the EVN Board of Directors, chaired a working session with the Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) on the operation of telecommunications and information technology (ICT), SCADA transmission channels, and scientific and technological tasks, innovation, and digital transformation in 2026. EVN leaders acknowledged EVNCPC's outstanding achievements in these areas.

According to the report presented at the meeting, EVNCPC's telecommunications and information technology infrastructure operation continues to be stable and safe, effectively meeting the requirements of management, operation, and business production. In the first five months of 2026, the telecommunications system serving grid operation experienced no service interruptions; the availability of the SCADA transmission channel system reached 100%.

EVNCPC has completed the establishment of backup transmission channels using 4G/5G technology for 151 out of 157 110kV substations, and completed the establishment of backup transmission channels connecting the Control Center with the Operation Monitoring Center at 100% of its units. The Corporation has strengthened its transmission infrastructure capacity by coordinating with EVNICT, Viettel, and other power transmission units to effectively receive and utilize fiber optic cables and shared transmission channels, serving the safe operation of the power system during the rainy and stormy season.

EVNCPC's information technology infrastructure operates on a main data center and a backup data center, effectively meeting the needs for exploiting EVN's shared software as well as systems serving management, operation, and business production.

In the field of digital transformation, EVNCPC continues to effectively coordinate the deployment of EVN's shared software, such as CMIS, PMIS, D-Office, OMS, and EVNHES, while actively participating in building and perfecting digital platforms to serve production, business operations, and customer care.

The corporation currently manages approximately 4.9 million electronic electricity meters, creating an important foundation for exploiting digital data, improving customer service quality, and applying artificial intelligence in operational management. Notably, EVNCPC has completed the synchronization of more than 3 million customer power usage records with the National Population Database as directed by EVN.

One of EVNCPC's outstanding achievements is its data development and exploitation. Currently, the Corporation has established a centralized data warehouse to support analysis and management. Based on this platform, EVNCPC has developed over 500 BI reports for corporation-level management and over 700 BI reports for management at its member units.

Alongside digital transformation, EVNCPC continues to prioritize cybersecurity and information security.

Regarding science, technology, and innovation, during the 2021-2025 period, EVNCPC recorded many outstanding results with 18 projects winning the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award (VIFOTEC), 4 products recognized as "Make by EVN", completing 27 scientific research projects, and having 1,420 recognized initiatives.

Currently, EVNCPC is implementing many research and application projects on new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, autonomous robots, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Among these, the project on applying AI and UAVs to power grid operation and management has built a data warehouse containing over 119,000 images, trained a model to recognize 49 objects on the power grid, and conducted 100 experimental flights covering a total length of approximately 18km of power lines, contributing to improved monitoring efficiency and early detection of safety risks on the power grid.

Members of EVN's Board of Directors assess that EVNCPC's information technology system operates stably and with high reliability, thanks to synchronous investment in backup solutions, contributing to ensuring safe and continuous production and business activities and operation of the power system.

Mr. Dinh The Phuc suggested that EVNCPC continue to improve the quality of telecommunications and information technology infrastructure; promote data sharing and system connectivity through common platforms and APIs; review and optimize existing software to enhance data management and exploitation efficiency. At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen the application of new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and the Internet of Things (IoT) in production and business activities, and promote digital transformation coupled with process automation to improve labour productivity and customer service quality.

Regarding science, technology, and innovation, the EVN’s Board of Directors requested EVNCPC to continue promoting the effectiveness of implemented research projects, focusing on developing plans to replicate, disseminate, and apply research results to practical production. In addition, EVNCPC needs to continue to closely coordinate with EVNICT in information security and safety, contributing to building a modern digital infrastructure that meets the development requirements of the electricity sector in the new phase.
