The project is scheduled for completion by 2025 as directed by the Prime Minister.

The Thai Binh 500kV Substation is located in Bac Son Commune, Hung Ha District, formerly part of Thai Binh Province and now within Than Khe Commune, Hung Yen Province. The substation is designed with a capacity of 600MVA and includes a standby position for the installation of a second transformer.

As for the connecting transmission lines, two 500kV double-circuit line segments with a total length of approximately 1.71km will be constructed, linking the Thai Binh 500kV Substation to a newly built connection tower on theNam Dinh I Thermal Power Plant - Pho Noi 500kV transmission line. In addition, two 220kV transmission line segments, one four-circuit and one double-circuit, will be built, totaling over 6 km in length, connecting the Thai Binh 500kV Substation to a newly constructed tower on the existing Thai Binh - Kim Dong 220kV transmission line.

At present, site clearance for the project has been essentially completed. The representative of the contractor affirmed to mobilize maximum resources to meet the requirements set by the investor.

The project is invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), managed and operated by the Northern Power Projects Management Board (NPMB), and will be handed over to Power Transmission Company No. 1 for operation upon completion.

The main objectives of the project include: strengthening power supply sources; contributing to the safe and reliable electricity supply for Hung Yen Province; reducing load and avoiding overload for 500kV substations and 220kV transmission lines supplying power to Hung Yen and Ninh Binh areas; creating strong interconnection between regions; enhancing the safe and stable operation capability of the national power system; and reducing power and energy losses across the grid.
