Recently, the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) has energized and put into operation eight urgent and key 110kV power grid projects in the provinces of Long An, Binh Thuan, Ninh Thuan, Tra Vinh, and Lam Dong, An Giang, Soc Trang, Dong Nai, making an important contribution to ensuring stable and safe power supply, meeting local load needs.

In the execution of the power supply mission in 21 Southern provinces and cities, EVNSPC has been dedicating many resources to invest in building power grid projects, promptly meeting the needs of socio-economic development and people's lives in these provinces.

Construction of 110kV feeders at Ben Luc 220kV substation, Long An province

Particularly, EVNSPC successfully energized and put into operation 4 key and urgent power grid projects in the last 3 days of October 2024 (from October 29-31, 2024).

Specifically, on October 31, 2024, the 110kV feeder project at Ben Luc 220kV substation (Long An) was successfully energized. With a total investment cost of more than VND 94 billion, this is one of the important projects to ensure a stable power supply and enhance power transmission capacity for Ben Luc and surrounding areas, meeting the increasing demand for electricity in Long An province.

The project aims to prevent overload for Long An and Phu Lam 220kV substations; providing power to 110kV substations in Ben Luc district such as Chungshing, Formosa, industrial parks Phu An Thanh, Ben Luc, Rach Chanh, and Long Hiep. At the same time, minimizing the risk of power overload during peak dry season months; improving power supply reliability, meeting the needs of socio-economic development, and attracting investment for Long An province.

On the same day, EVNSPC successfully energized the 110kV connection line behind Vinh Hao 220kV substation, Binh Thuan province. The project has a total investment cost of nearly VND 14 billion, helping evacuate renewable energy power plants in the area; increasing power supply from Vinh Hao 220kV substation for Binh Thuan province, ensuring serve the local socio-economic development, meeting the power supply needs in the region according to N-1 criteria.

Previously, on October 30, 2024, the project of Du Long Industrial Park 110kV substation and connection line in Ninh Thuan province was also successfully energized. The project has a total investment cost of VND 91 billion, including 2 transformers with a capacity of 2x40MVA, this phase is to install one 1x40MVA transformer, with the envisaged capacity scale of 2x63MVA in the future; The connection line is 33.5m long.

The project put into operation to enhance power supply for concentrated loads of Du Long Industrial Park, important loads in Thuan Bac district such as Luks Cement Factory, Binh Tien Beach tourist area, Vinh Hy tourist area, and the surrounding area of Thuan Bac district; At the same time, it contributes to preventing overloading of the existing Ninh Hai and Thap Cham 110kV substations, completing the 110kV grid loop, reducing power loss, improving the reliability and safety of power supply to the area.

In addition, on October 29, 2024, Tra Vinh Power Company successfully energized and put into operation transformer No. 2 of Cau Ngang 110kV substation (Tra Vinh province) under the project "Installation of transformer T2 - 40 MVA for Cau Ngang 110kV substation", 2 months ahead of schedule. The project has a total investment cost of nearly VND 24 billion, playing an important role in increasing operational flexibility thanks to the transfer of load between transformers in Cau Ngang 110kV substation in particular and regional 110kV substations in general; Meeting the load demand in Cau Ngang district; Supporting power transmission from Tra Vinh 2 220kV substation to Cau Ngang 110kV substation, meeting the rapidly growing load needs of Cau Ngang district; Reducing power loss thereby improving voltage quality and enhancing power supply reliability for the area according to N-1 criteria.

From October 21 to 28, 2024, EVNSPC successfully energized and put into operation 4 110kV power grid projects in the provinces of Lam Dong, Soc Trang, An Giang, Dong Nai including Xuan Tho 110kV substation and 110kV connection line; conductor phase division of Soc Trang 2 - Soc Trang double circuit 110kV line from AC240 to 2xAC240; renovating Long Xuyen 110kV substation; 110kV feeder of An Phuoc 220kV substation.

In addition to projects that have been energized and put into operation, EVNSPC has been implementing dozens of projects on the 110kV power grids in 21 Southern provinces and cities. These are all key and urgent power projects to meet the load growth needs of localities.

In the first 10 months of 2024, EVNSPC has commenced construction of 34 projects and energized 25 110kV grid projects.
