Considered the "smart brain" operating the entire power grid system of the merged Ho Chi Minh City megacity, serving over 14 million people, the Ho Chi Minh City Power System Dispatch Center is a place that sparks curiosity, but not everyone can access it.

On the morning of 23 February 2026, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh - President and CEO of Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC), together with Mr. Pham Viet Anh, Deputy Head of the Communications Department of EVNHCMC, and a delegation, visited and wished Lunar New Year to the staff of the Ho Chi Minh City Power System Dispatch Center. The delegation also had the opportunity to witness first-hand the operations of the Ho Chi Minh City Power System Dispatch Center (under Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation).

On 23 February 2026, EVNHCMC President and CEO Nguyen Van Thanh revealed: " It is expected that by 2027, EVNHCMC will complete 100% automation of the smart grid across the entire power systems of the former Binh Duong and Ba Ria–Vung Tau power companies. And Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation is the only unit of EVN to achieve this target ahead of schedule.”

Glancing into the room, the delegation saw everyone silent, intently observing the screens, which displayed charts and countless parameters that certainly wouldn't be understood by anyone "outside the field." But for the engineers here, they know every area like the back of their hand.

Whenever a grid incident occurs - such as a short circuit, electrical discharge, or fire and explosion - operators receive instant alerts through precise control systems and proactively handle the situation.

" Sitting here, yet this intelligent “brain” can see through every corner of the power grid -truly a fascinating and impressive achievement that many generations of the power sector once dreamed of. We are incredibly lucky to enjoy this...", dispatcher Tran Nguyen Thuan said emotionally.
