The Vietnam Electricity’s Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) has announced that it had restored electricity to over 2 million customers, accounting for nearly 90% of those affected by tropical storm Wipha, as of 7pm on July 22.

Additionally, 36 out of 44 drainage pumping stations had gained access to electricity, contributing significantly to the removal of floodwaters in heavily inundated areas following the storm.

However, electricity restoration in some areas may be delayed due to complex weather and terrain conditions. In particular, coastal localities from Hai Phong to Ninh Binh continue to experience heavy rain and strong winds, making it difficult for repair workers to access affected sites.

In the central province of Thanh Hoa, deep flooding in several locations has necessitated the suspension or reduction of electricity supply to ensure safety. Furthermore, many roads have been cut off, eroded, or submerged, hindering the transportation of equipment and materials to damaged infrastructure.

EVNNPC is making every effort to fully restore electricity for 100% of affected customers as soon as possible, while ensuring absolute safety for all personnel involved in repair and restoration work.
