Phuoc Thai 1 Solar Power Plant (50MWp) and connection lines with a total investment of VND1,113billions is invested by Vietnam Electricity. The Power Project Management Board 3 (EVNPMB 3) is assigned to manage the project implementation.
The project was approved by the Prime Minister to be added in Power Plan VII. The ground-breaking ceremony was conducted on 26 September 2019. On 8 July 2020, the project was put into operation. Up to now, the energy generated by the plant and fed to the national power system is 21 million kWh.
Phuoc Thai 1 Solar Power Plant was built with the goal of adding clean energy to the power system, contributing to the development of solar energy, in line with generation development orientation of the Government, Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) and Vietnam Electricity (EVN). Besides, the project is also the prerequisite for Phuoc Thai 2 and Phuoc Thai 3 solar power projects (total capacity of 150MWp). In addition, the 220kV substation in the project also collects the capacity of neighboring solar power plants to feed into the national grid.
"With a deep understanding of the Politburo's Resolution No. 55, which emphasizes a higher priority to renewable energy development, Phuoc Thai 1 Solar Power Plant project was selected and recognized by the Standing Party Committee of EVN as the project to be affixed with the name board of Work to welcome the XIII National Congress," EVN's Standing Deputy Secretary of Party Committee Nguyen Huu Tuan said.
At the ceremony, comrade Nguyen Huu Tuan - EVN's Standing Deputy Secretary, on behalf of the Party Committee and EVN leaders warmly praised the project management unit, the contractors for their efforts to overcome all difficulties to put the project into operation ahead of schedule.
According to Mr. Nguyen Vinh Quang - Director of Power Project Management Board 3, the project implementation progress was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, so the handover of site to the construction unit faced many difficulties. Resources for construction at the site were significantly affected. However, with the due attention by the political system of Ninh Thuan province, as well as the EVN Party Committee, EVN's leaders, EVNPMB 3 had soon completed the project. This was also the result of the labor emulation movement, striving to successfully complete all tasks assigned by EVNPMB3.
From the beginning of 2019 up to now, there has been more than 6,300MWp of total installed capacity of renewable energy projects nationwide connected to the power network, contributing to ensuring power supply to the national power system. However, a huge number of projects are concentrated in Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces with a very rapid development rate, leading to a situation that part of the capacity has not been fully mobilized. Over the past two years, Vietnam Electricity, the National Power Transmission Corporation have concentrated all their resources on putting many important power transmission projects into operation ahead of schedule, as well as have proposed supplementing and adjusting plans of many power grid projects in order to release renewable energy capacity to the national grid.
