The project of floating solar power plant on Da Mi reservoir is invested by DHD with an investment cost of nearly VND 1,500 billion, a designed capacity of 47.5MWp, and an expected electricity output of about 70 million kWh per year.
The project installs 143,940 solar panels on an area of 50 ha on Da Mi hydropower reservoir, located in La Ngau commune (Tanh Linh district), Da Mi and La Da communes (Ham Thuan Bac district), Binh Thuan province.
Unlike ground mounted or rooftop solar power projects, floating projects are usually more efficient, due to a large difference between solar radiation and water surface.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Chien - Deputy General Director of DHD said: The plant has been successfully synchronized with the power grid 33 days ahead of the original schedule (which is June 30, 2019), promptly adding a clean energy source to the national power system, especially the Southern provinces during this hot and sunny season in 2019.
On behalf of the project owner, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Chien acknowledged the efforts of Power Project Management Board No.1 (under Vietnam Electricity), which is the project management, designing and construction consultant. At the same time, Mr. Chien thanked Binh Thuan provincial authorities for creating the best conditions in ground clearance for the 110kV substation, thus timely evacuating generation output of the plant.
Da Mi hydropower reservoir has the potential for developing solar power with a total capacity of up to 300MWp. Therefore, in the future, the Company will keep on considering expansion of floating solar power plant on this reservoir.
Da Nhim - Ham Thuan - Da Mi Hydropower Joint Stock Company under Power Generation Corporation No.1 (Vietnam Electricity) is currently managing and operating 4 hydropower plants including: Da Nhim, Ham Thuan and Da Mi and Song Pha with a total capacity of 642.5MW. The Company has accumulated much experience in the management, operation, maintenance, investment and construction of power generation projects.
Engineers and workers of DHD and contractors are preparing for energizing the floating solar power plant on Da Mi reservoir.
The plant will contribute about 70 million kWh/year to the national power system
