EVN Chairman of Management Board welcomes a high-level delegation of US – ASEAN Business Council

On 26 August, at the headquarters of Vietnam Electricity, Mr. Duong Quang Thanh - EVN Chairman welcomed and met with a high-level enterprise delegation of US – ASEAN Business Council.

The leader of the high-level delegation of US – ASEAN Business Council was Mr. Karan Bhatia - Vice President and Senior Consultant on International Law and Policy of General Electric (GE), Chairman of United States  - Vietnam  Committee, the US – ASEAN Business Council. Michael Michalak, Senior Vice President, Regional Managing Director of  US – ASEAN Business Council was the co-leader of the delegation.

The delegation of the US – ASEAN Business Council this year consisting of 38 US enterprises was the largest delegation ever to come to Vietnam.

At the meeting, Mr. Karan Bhatia emphasized, EVN is an important partner of the United States enterprises. This meeting offers the US enterprises a chance to strengthen the relations as well as to seek for new opportunities of working with EVN, to introduce technology and advanced electrical equipment which helps  to optimize costs, improve productivity and contribute to environmental protection in Vietnam.

Mr. Duong Quang Thanh - EVN Chairman affirmed that EVN has strong relationship with many US enterprises, especially with GE and Westinghouse Group.

He also shared updated information about the power development in Vietnam. EVN is responsible for providing power for the socio-economic development. In recent years, the growth rate of electricity in Vietnam is around 11% / year and expected to maintain the level of 10-11% by 2020.

To meet the energy need of the country, EVN is promoting investment in infrastructure development including power sources and networks. This is also an opportunity for US enterprises and EVN to cooperate in the development of power sector in Vietnam.

At the meeting, the US enterprises such as GE, Westinghouse, AES, Exxon, etc.. raised their proposals to cooperate with EVN on such issues as: Digital technology in the power industry, energy storage projects, generating power from gas or electronic electricity billing and payment, etc.

Mr. Duong Quang Thanh - EVN Chairman affirmed at the meeting that EVN is ready to extend their support as well as look forward to fruitful cooperation with US enterprises, aiming at sustainable development.
