Tra Vinh: Almost 35 Thousand Households of Khmer People Connected to National Grid

In the morning of August 24, in Tra Cu district, Tra Vinh province, the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) celebrated the completion for the project of power supply for off-grid households, mostly Khmer people in Tra Vinh province.

It is the key project approved by the Prime Minister. The project has a total investment of more than VND 469 billion, deployed in 76 communes of the seven districts of Tra Vinh province to supply power for 35 thousand households, an increase of more than 15 thousand households compared with the original plan, of which the number of Khmer households connected to electricity increased by from 80% to 97.1%.

All the service connections of the households in the project area are free of charge, namely, the connections from the power lines to the houses and to the electricity meters, and the lighting systems after the meters. The completion of the project has contributed to increasing the total number of households connected to electricity in Tra Vinh province to 98.43%, including the rural households reaching 97.82%, Khmer households reaching 97%.

With the power from the national grid, in addition to improving their life, the Khmer people are able to access to the news, information about the policies of the Party, of the Government, which helps to prevent against false against false allegations and misrepresentation of hostile forces and therefore strengthen the unity and solidarity of the nation.
