EVN has reduced nearly VND 1,740 billion of electricity for customers

As of 12 May 2020, EVN has issued discounted invoices for 12.4 million customers, accounting for 43.94% of the total number of customers in the list of electricity price reductions and electricity bills.

The reduction in electricity price and electricity charges for customers affected by COVID-19 pandemic nationwide was promptly and urgently implemented by EVN, according to the right subjects and at the prescribed time.

Among 12.4 million customers who have been discounted, there are 11.06 million household customers nationwide with the total amount of electricity charge reduced by more than VND 392 billion. At the same time, there were 1.35 million non-household customers whose electricity charge was reduced by VND 1,316 billion by EVN.

EVN Deputy General Director Vo Quang Lam said that in recent years, the Group has made efforts to make reduction in electricity price and electricity charge for customers urgently and promptly. After Official Letter No. 2698/BCT-DTDL dated 16 April 2020 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade; Right from 16 April 2020, EVN officially issued a document on guiding units to implement electricity price reduction for power customers affected by COVID-19.

EVN fully and promptly informed customers of the implementation of reducing electricity price and electricity charge s due to the impact of COVID-19

Customers using electricity for daily activities are entitled to the corresponding reduction rates in electricity bills of May, June and July 2020. Non-household customers (production, business, etc.) shall be applied to the price reduction for the latest invoice period from 16 April 2020.

The reduction in electricity bill has been performed to the right customers. EVN has proactively sent the related documents to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Defense and the provincial People's Committees to request for implementation assistance. Currently, the Group is working with the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control to confirm that the subjects are entitled to such reduction are COVID-19 prevention and control units under central ministries, departments and sectors manage.

As of 12 May 2020:

- 2,680 customers who are tourist accommodation establishments entitled to reduction in electricity bills with the total amount of VND 26.98 billion.

- 439 customers who are medical facilities testing, treating patients suspected of being infected with COVID-19 are exempted or reduced in electricity bills with the total value of VND 4.59 billion.

Especially, in the process of implementing the reduction, EVN has focused on customer care. Mr. Nguyen Quoc Dung - Head of EVN Business Department said that the inquiries by people were received through EVN through channels: EVN Customer Care Center, the press, social networks, etc. EVN has cooperated with Thanh Nien newspaper, Zing News to organize online seminars to talk and answer customers' questions about electricity bill and price issues.

The Group has provided an online power charging tool at the "EVN & customers" section on EVN's website, which clarifies the reduction rate in electricity charge for customers to calculate and check their electricity bills themselves.
