Reinforcement of Hiep Binh Phuoc 220/110kV Substation (Ho Chi Minh City)

On 12 May 2020, Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) successfully energized the reinforcement project of the Hiep Binh Phuoc 220/110kV Substation, contributing to meet the development demand in the Northern area of Ho Chi Minh City.

EVNHCMC workers test the substation before energizing

The main item of the project is to install a T4 110kV transformer of 40MVA capacity, operating in parallel with a T5 transformer of the same capacity (40MVA).

Hiep Binh Phuoc 220/110kV substation is an important node in the Ho Chi Minh City power grid diagram. The substation consists of two 220kV transformers (of 250MVA each) and two 110kV transformers, loop-connected with Hoc Mon 220/110kV substation and Thu Duc 220/110kV substation; contributing to ensure power supply to the districts of Thu Duc, Binh Thanh, Phu Nhuan, District 12 and Hoc Mon; at the same time reducing power supply pressure on Tao Dan 220kV Substation.

The Hiep Binh Phuoc 220/110kV Substation and all substations in Ho Chi Minh City are remotely controlled and operated on an unmanned mode. After the capacity reinforcement, Hiep Binh Phuoc 220/110kV Substation not only ensures a better supply of stable, high-quality power to the northern Ho Chi Minh City but also enhances the stability and flexibility in ensuring power supply to the City during the hot season.
