The preliminary review conference on coordinating to perform propagation on seas and islands among Vietnam People’s Navy, 63 provinces, cities and 15 bodies took place on October 25th, 2019 in Khanh Hoa province, with the participation of more than 400 delegates.
EVN’s representative receiving Certificate of Merit by the High Command of Navy for its outstanding achievements in coordinating to perform propaganda on seas and islands.
Since 1992, EVN, with its determination on the significance and importance of receiving, investment in power grid development, and supplying power to island districts, has received the power systems and directly supplied power to 11/12 island districts. EVN has received 81/85 island communes and supplied them power with a total of 151,154 customers served with power.
Especially, since 1st August 2017, EVN officially received the tasks of managing, maintaining, repairing and operating the entire power systems on Spratly Islands and DK1 platform for stable and uninterrupted operation. Besides the task of ensuring power supply, EVN, in coordination with High Command of Navy, has organized for working delegations to visit, support and present gifts to encourage the soldiers and people on Spratly Islands and the Platform, built multi-purpose cultural houses, replaced LED lighting systems, planted trees on the islands, completed its Truong Sa Power Office on Truong Sa Lon Island, etc.
After receiving the task of supplying power to near-shore island districts and communes, EVN has implemented many projects to connect the national power grid to island districts and communes in order to meet the needs of socio-economic development, security and national defense. The total investment capital for these projects is more than VND 7,500 billion. As a result, the size of the power system for island districts has been increased rapidly. The system of medium and low-voltage grids increases by 350-400%, meeting the power demand of the people living on the islands.

Particularly, from not being supplied with power or just a few hours of power supply each day, the island districts have now been supplied power in 24/24 mode with stable quality, thereby making an significant contribution to developing and defensing the Nation’s sovereignty over island borders, ensuring security and national defense; at the same time, creating momentum to promote marine economy.
Under the direct management of EVN, households on these islands can use power at the price set by the State, the situation in the past that people on many islands used to pay high power prices due to high costs of oil-generated power sources has been completely avoided. As a result, the fairness in pricing between people on the mainland and those on islands is ensured, helping people feel secure to live on the sea, contributing to preserving the Country’s sovereignty over seas and islands.
In fact, the investment and development of power sources and power grids for the islands faces many challenges in technical solutions, capital raising and difficulties in construction. EVN has been continuing to make efforts to fulfill its task of investing in ensuring power supply to the islands, thereby, helping to enhance the efficiency of propaganda works on seas and islands.
The power supply lighting up the islands is also one of the evidences and practical bases for the people, officials and soldiers in the seas and islands in particular and the people of the country in general to firmly consolidate their trust, will, determination and belief in the directions, policies and caring by the Communist Party, the State and the Government on preserving and developing the seas and islands, protecting the Nation’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
