EVN wishing to continue to obtain effective cooperation from partners  On 1st February 2018, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) organized the EVN Partnership Meeting 2018 in Hanoi. This is the annual event of the Group for giving gratefulness to effective support and coordination from State agencies, diplomatic agencies, domestic and foreign partners as well.

Participants at the Meeting were Mr. Craig Chittick - Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Kari Kahiluoto - Ambassador from Republic of Finland to Vietnam, Mr. Thongsavanh Phomvihane - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary from Lao People's Democratic Republic to Vietnam, together with representatives from US, Russia, France, Italy, Thailand Embassies, etc., to Vietnam.

International and domestic credit institutions were represented by Mr. Achim Fock - Portfolio & Operations Manager of the World Bank in Vietnam; Mr. Christan Haas - Director of Germany Development Bank (KfW) in Vietnam, Mr. Fabrice Richy - Director of the French Development Agency (Agence française de développement) (AFD) and representatives of the State Bank of Vietnam, as well as commercial banks.

EVN was also honored to welcome representatives of Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and Ministry of Finance.

EVN’s Member Council Chairman Duong Quang Thanh, General Director Dang Hoang An and members of Member Council and Deputy General directors represented for the Group participated at the meeting.

At the meeting, EVN General Director Dang Hoang An said that in 2017, EVN had fully accomplished its assigned tasks and achieved many successes in various fields.

By the end of 2017, the total power generation capacity of the system reached over 45,000MW. EVN has supplied power to 25.6 million customers in over the country. Total commercial power output of the Group in 2017 was 174.05 billion kWh, increasing by 8.92% compared to 2016.

In 2017, EVN invested in power supplying to 11/12 island districts; 99.98% of communes and wards and 98.83% of rural households in the country were supplied power. Especially, EVN provided 100% of electricity services online.

According to the World Bank's Doing Business Report dated 31 October 2017, Vietnam's electricity access index has risen by 32 grades from the 2016’s rankings and being ranked at 64/190 countries/economies, contributing to the improvement of the overall assessment index of Vietnam's Business environment by 14 grades compared with 2016.

One of the remarkable milestones of EVN in 2017 is to promote cooperation with domestic and foreign partners. EVN continues to maintain trust relationships with international financial institutions (World Bank, ADB, AFD, JICA, KfW, etc.,) to arrange foreign capital for power projects.

At the same time, EVN has closely cooperated and exploited cooperative programs with major electricity corporations in the world such as EDF (France), TEPCO (Japan), KEPCO (Korea), ENEL (Italy), etc.,.

In 2018, EVN wishes to continue getting enthusiastic and effective cooperation, support from partners to implement its task of securing power supplying for the country.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Achim Fock - Portfolio & Operations Manager of the World Bank in Vietnam, said: "EVN has effectively used ODA to implement the program of rural electrification, upgrading and expanding essential transmission and distribution networks, development of power projects, etc. This is the result achieved thanks to leadership, dedication and high technical competence of the leaders and all officials, employees of EVN".

The World Bank and its development partners will continue to support EVN in the coming years to develop a competitive electricity market, upgrade the infrastructure for improvement of the power system reliability, develop renewable energy, use energy in a saving and efficient manner, etc., so as to ensure the sustainable development goals of Vietnam’s Power Sector.
