Power plants under EVNGENCO 1 well performed their production, business, pandemic prevention and control tasks in 9 months of 2021
By the end of the third quarter, the Corporation had produced 26.39 billion kWh, reaching 74.11% of the 2021 plan.
The Corporation viewed that the production and business performance in the last months of the year would face many difficulties and challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic is still complicated, resulting in low electricity demand, affecting dispatchability of thermal power plants. In addition, due to unfavorable hydrological conditions, it is difficult for some hydropower reservoirs managed and operated by EVNGENCO1's member companies to impound water and reach their full supply levels. In particular, prices of input fuels for electricity generation have increased, which have negatively affected dispatchability and competitiveness of power plants in the electricity market.
To realize the set production and business targets, EVNGENCO 1 has proposed specific solutions.
The Corporation will ensure a safe and stable operation of power units, meeting dispatching orders of the National Load Dispatch Center. Thermal power plants will keep abreast of equipment operation status and price movements in the electricity market to bid and participate in the market effectively. EVNGENCO 1 requires hydropower plants to operate in compliance with the inter-reservoir operation procedure, ensuring safety in the rainy season, and storing water to full supply levels by the end of 2021.
As for fuel supply for electricity generation, the Corporation will stick to the operation plan to order imported coal in line with the actual situation. Along with that, EVNGENCO 1 will conclude and sign domestic coal supply agreements for 2022 with partners.
