The Long Son Power Center Project, invested by the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and the Power Generation Corporation No. 3, is a project to use LNG fuel to generate power with a capacity of 3.600 MW in Long Son commune, Vung Tau City.
The project will be implemented in three phases from 2019 to 2025, including: construction of Warehouse - LNG terminal port with a capacity of 3.5 million tons/year and 3 combined-cycle gas turbines with the capacity of each plant is about 1,200MW.
Long Son Power Center will contribute to reducing power shortage, improving power supply in the South in general and Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in particular in the period of 2020-2030 and the following years. The estimated output from this center is 21 billion kWh per year for the national power system and the payment to the State budget is about VND 4.130 billion per year.
After being put into operation, in 3 phases, the Long Son Power Center, the total capacity of EVNGENCO 3 will reach 10,140MW.
Currently, EVNGENCO 3 is the largest power generator in Vietnam, excluding EVN (parent company). The capacity of EVNGENCO 3 accounts for 16% of the total power system, with a production share of 17%.
