EVNHCMC: Aiming for 100% of people to pay electricity bills in non-cash form

According to Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC), up to now, the rate of customers not using cash to pay for electricity in the city has reached 99.85% of customers corresponding to 99.7% of bill value. This shows that there is a rapid shift to non-cash forms when the rate of payment via e-wallets, Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, automatic debt deduction, etc., is dominating.

In order to promote the implementation of non-cash payment development solutions under the direction of the Government, in recent times, Ho Chi Minh City's electricity industry has actively coordinated with banks and payment intermediary organizations to deploy Solutions to increase the rate of non-cash payment of electricity bills.

To date, EVNHCMC has cooperated with 23 banks and 11 intermediary partners to collect electricity charges, with nearly 72,000 collection points in Ho Chi Minh City at bank transaction points, convenience stores, post offices, Supermarkets, phone stores, ATM locations, and so on.

In particular, EVNHCMC pays great attention to developing electronic payment channels such as Internet/Mobile/SMS Banking or automatic debt deduction; via EVNHCMC's website, e-wallets (Momo, Zalo pay, ViettetPay, VNPTPay, etc.,), payment via QR Code, etc. Besides, EVNHCMC is cooperating with collection partners to implement incentive programs such as refunding when paying electricity bills via e-wallet; and discounting when paying electricity bills of ZaloPay, ViettelPay, VNPTPay, Momo, etc.

Mr. Bui Trung Kien - Deputy General Director of EVNHCMC - said that paying electricity bills online and not using cash brings many conveniences such as payment being made anytime, anywhere, accurate to the exact amount of bill charge and fast, saving time, travel costs, especially safety, avoid the risk of falling, losing cash, etc. For automatic debt deduction, customers do not need to remember the monthly electricity payment schedule, or not worry about disconnection of power supply and loss of electricity reconnection fee due to forgetting to pay the electricity bill.

According to Mr. Bui Trung Kien, non-cash payment is an inevitable trend of modern life, so EVNHCMC has set a goal that by 2025, 100% of power customers in Ho Chi Minh City will pay for electricity bills in non-cash form.
