As of April 27th, 2019, Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) has also paid VND 3.14 billion to buy rooftop solar power (equivalent to 1.45 million kWh).

Mr. Pham Quoc Bao – EVNHCMC’s General Director said that rooftop solar power was a type with many development advantages for Ho Chi Minh City. In particular, enterprises have a lot of potential for installation on roofs of factories.
Leaders of the Corporation affirmed that, with the existing infrastructures of power system, EVNHCMC ensured the connection to the grid for all rooftop solar power works within the scope managed by EVNHCMC. Therefore, promoting and propagating to develop this type of energy source in Ho Chi Minh City was very necessary.
For EVNHCMC in particular, there have been 20 subordinate units completing the installation of solar power system for grid connection at their headquarters, with a total capacity of 1.2MWp.
Currently, there have been left 3 units which are continuing to implement, including installation at intermediate substations, with a total estimated capacity at 4.2MWp. These rooftop solar power works are expected to be operated in 2019.
* More information about the operation of the Corporation, from 2016 to the end of quarter II/2019, the Corporation has undergrounded 538km of medium-voltage grid and 917km of low-voltage grid, reaching 80.8% of underground volume compared to set targets.
By the end of 2019, the underground rate of the medium-voltage power grid in the whole City will reach nearly 40%. The inner city area will reach a rate of about 53%, particularly, it will be over 99% in District 1 and District 3.
