Power Transmission Company No.2 has been assigned to lead studies on "Building an integrated system for monitoring and managing the power transmission network in Central provinces on the basis of GIS and IoT technologies" and "Application of artificial intelligence (AI) to the transmission line surveillance camera system".
The delegation went on a field trip at tower 29 of the 220kV dual-circuit transmission line Da Nang - Tam Ky - Ngu Hanh Son, witnessing engineers of PTC 2 operating on AI-integrated equipment to automatically examine the equipment on the grid and detect abnormalities from the recorded images.
The assignment of tasks in line operation and management of line teams are conducted through assignment slips on software co-developed by engineers of PTC 2 and partners. Work results captured by drones will be updated directly on the software so that functional departments can monitor and grasp the status of the line and its equipment. These data are automatically updated on computers or mobile devices, thereby helping to digitize records, management books, and professional processes related to the transmission line operation and management.
EVN’s General Director, Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan, highly appreciated the scientific and technological applications that EVNNPT in general and PTC 2 in particular have achieved in recent years. In particular, the study and application of AI in production should soon be widely replicated since this is an important foundation, contributing to fundamentally changing engineering management.
The leader of EVN also requested that this application should be extensively and intensively deployed at member units of EVNNPT and Power Corporations in order to improve productivity, labor efficiency, and reduce risks for engineers and workers in the process of line operation and management.
