EVN’s General Director welcomed KOEN’s leaders

On March 5th 2019, in Hanoi, Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan - General Director of EVN welcomed and worked with Mr. Kim Hak-bin – Vice President of Korea South-East Power Corporation (KOEN). This is the first meeting of senior leaders between EVN and KOEN.

Mr. Kim Hak-bin expressed thanks to EVN’s leaders for spending time to welcomen the working delegation of KOEN. At the same time, he expected the meeting to create a favourable premise for the good cooperation between the two parties in the coming time.

According to Mr. Kim Hak-bin, KOEN is a power generation corporation that owns about 9% of installed capacity (over 10,000MW) of power systems in Korea. With experience in developing clean coal thermo-power plants as well as renewable energy sources, KOEN expected to cooperate with EVN in seeking opportunities and developing power source projects in Vietnam’s power market.

Welcoming KOEN’s delegation, General Director Tran Dinh Nhan affirmed that EVN was always willing to cooperate with domestic and foreign partners, aiming at sustainable development of the power system, to meet the electricity demand for socio-economic development of the country. Every year, Vietnam needs about 5,000MW from new power source, so Vietnam's power market is opening up many opportunities for investors.
At the meeting, the two parties also informed about the equitization process of EVN's power generation corporations and the opportunities for KOEN to become a strategic shareholder.
