EVN’s delegation visits and encourages cadres, soldiers and people in Spratly islands

The delegation of Vietnam Electricity, led by EVN Deputy General Director Nguyen Cuong Lam has successfully completed the working and visiting mission to Truong Sa archipelago (Spratly islands) and DK1/21 Drill Rig, from April 25 to May 3, 2018.

The delegation is under Delegation No. 10, 2018, led by Rear Admiral Ngo Sy Quyet - Deputy Commander of Naval Forces. There are also other delegates participating in the delegation from the Central Propaganda and Training Commission, General Department of Taxation (Ministry of Finance) and Thai Binh Cheo Theater.

Delegation No. 10 has visited and encouraged cadres and soldiers working in 12 islands, island points and DK1/21 Drill Rig with meaningful and practical gifts. During the voyage, the Delegation also organized a meeting to celebrate the 43rd anniversary of the liberation of Truong Sa island district (April 29, 1975 - April 29, 2018) and the 43rd anniversary of the Day of liberating the South for national reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2018).

The Delegates visited and offered incense at President Ho Chi Minh Memorial House; Martyrs Monument in Truong Sa town; organized a commemoration for Heroic Martyrs who laid down their lives in the waters of Gac Ma, Co Lin, Len Dao and the southern continental shelf of the Motherland.

Together with the common activities, EVN’s delegation also presented gifts to soldiers and people living on the islands; inspected and assessed the actual status of the power systems in islands and Drill Rigs; replaced the bulbs and pasted the propaganda posters on saving power on the islands, etc.

According to EVN Deputy General Director Nguyen Cuong Lam: From the end of July, 2017, following the direction of the Government and the Ministry of Defense, EVN has officially taken over the management of the power system on Spratly Islands and DK1 Rigs. Immediately after that, EVN has closely cooperated with the Navy Command in order to urgently replace, repair, maintain and upgrade the clean energy system on the islands. Up to now, the islands and DK1 Drill Rigs have been supplied with stable power.

After this mission, EVN shall continue to implement technical and management solutions to upgrade the power system, enhance the power supply capability serving cadres, soldiers and people on the island and DK1 Drill Rigs, contributing to enhancing the effectiveness of defensive capability to protect the sacred sea and island sovereignty of our Motherland.
