The substation is built in a total area of 4.46 hectares in Tan Phuoc commune, La Gi town, Ham Tan district, Binh Thuan province. The work was commenced on September 29, 2015.
The energization of the 220 kV Ham Tan substation will meet the load demand of the Ham Tan district, La Gi town, Binh Thuan province. Specially, this substation will help reduce the load for the 220 kV Phan Thiet substation, prevent the overload for the 110 kV lines in the area and facilitate the connection of the Son My power plant to the national grid in the future. In addition, the substation will contribute to improve the reliability, meet the load demand and supply power for socio-economic development, national defense of Binh Thuan province and the surrounding areas.
