Once completed, the project and the Monsoon-Thanh My 500kV transmission line will integrate the 600MW Monsoon Wind Power Plant (in Laos) into the national power grid, contributing to ensuring the country's energy security.
The Thanh My 500kV Substation Expansion and Rehabilitation Project is owned by EVNNPT, the project implementation is undertaken by NPTPMB, and it will be taken over and operated by Power Transmission Company 2. This is a special-level energy project, group B, the feeder expansion is implemented at Thanh My 500kV substation in Ta Dac village, Ta B'Hing commune, Nam Giang district, Quang Nam province.
The project aims to achieve the goals and bilateral commitments on cooperative relations between the Governments of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Lao PDR in energy system development; contributing to diversifying the regional power generation structure.
The project also helps strengthen the interconnection of the regional power system, improve safety, reliability, and stability of the regional and national power system operation; alleviate capacity loss in the transmission network, increase production and business efficiency of EVN in general and EVNNPT in particular; converting and rearranging existing and under construction 220kV connection lines to avoid cross intersections with 500kV transmission lines according to PDP 8.
NPTPMB leaders and related units witness moment of energizing project
The project covers a surface of 18.83 hectares, of which the substation expansion covers 12.83 hectares and the return connection line covers 6 hectares. The substation area is to renovate the existing diagram on the 500kV side from a quadrilateral diagram to a 3/2 diagram and install additional bays for the 500kV transmission line going to Monsoon to serve the transmission of 600MW of wind power from Laos to Vietnam and 500kV transmission lines going to Pleiku (circuit 2) and 500kV transmission lines relayed on 02 circuits of Quang Trach - Doc Soi 500kV transmission line in the following phase.
