Both sides also discussed the progress and challenges in implementing the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), co-chaired by the EU and the United Kingdom on behalf of the International Partners Group (IPG).

The EU and EIB delegation highly appreciated the longstanding cooperation with EVN, acknowledged it as a reliable partner, and expressed significant interest in the Bac Ai Pumped Storage Hydropower Plant project.

During the meeting, EVN Vice President Nguyen Xuan Nam expressed gratitude to the EU and EIB delegations for supporting EVN over the years. He also updated the delegation on EVN’s progress in the energy transition process.

The “Global Gateway” strategy is an EU initiative announced in 2021 to promote smart, secure connectivity in the digital, energy, transportation, healthcare, and education sectors globally. It represents an essential step by the EU to enhance connections, strengthen global supply chains, and aid in rapid recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic while supporting sustainable development with its partners.
