On May 4, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations in collaboration with the Malaysian Institute of Engineers and Ho Chi Minh City Power Association held a ceremony to award ASEAN chartered professional engineer certificates to 123 engineers recognized in 2021 and 2022 in the South region, of which, there are 64 engineers from Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation.
There are 39 engineers who were recognized in 2021 (no awards were given due to the COVID-19 pandemic) and 25 engineers were recognized in 2022 among 64 engineers of Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) receiving ASEAN chartered professional engineer certificates this time.
Up to now, the total number of ASEAN chartered professional engineers of Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation is 212 people, accounting for 40.3% of the total 552 ASEAN engineers in the country (since the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations acceded to this institution in 1998).
According to Mr. Pham Quoc Bao - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation, to be recognized as ASEAN chartered professional engineers, Vietnamese engineers have had to make great efforts to meet the qualifications standards, competence, English fluency, experience, and professional ethics as prescribed by the ASEAN Engineers Register Commission.
Accomplishing the ASEAN Engineers Register is an opportunity for Vietnamese engineers to be recognized in the international arena, creating an open environment to share knowledge, expertise, and technology, adding more potential and opportunities for research and development, and promoting professional engineering practice to a higher level.
