Hanoi's commercial power output in 2021 strives to reach from 21,528 to 21,650 million kWh, an increase of 7.5-8.1% over the previous year’s. Under unfavorable conditions due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the target for commercial power output in Hanoi is from 20,735 to 20,834 million kWh, an increase of 3.5-4% compared to that of the previous year. The power-saving rate of Hanoi is about 2.2% of total power consumption.
In particular, Hanoi gradually increases the proportion of 110kV transformer stations operating in unmanned and remote control and continues to underground high, medium and low voltage power lines in urban districts. Hanoi focuses on replacing mechanical meters with electronic meters towards applying mainly automatic telemetry technology in the power retail business. Hanoi shall conduct survey, design, construction and installation of power grids according to the criteria that power supply radius in urban areas at not over 250m, and in rural, mountainous areas not exceeding 600m, ensuring reduction in power loss and quality of downstream voltage.

In addition, Hanoi city will gradually shift the intermediate voltage level to 22kV to synchronize equipment and reduce energy loss. The city is focusing on the quality of electricity in rural areas, moving forwards to a closed-circuit type in order to improve the level of safety and stability for the purpose of serving people’s lives and developing rural agriculture. The city shall strengthen management solutions, minimize violations of the safety corridor of the high-voltage grid and strive to achieve over 30% of the reduction rate of violation cases compared to 2020s.
