Representing the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) was Mr. Pham Hong Phuong – Vice President of EVN.
On behalf of the Labor Union of EVN were Mr. Do Duc Hung – Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, President of the Labor Union of EVN; Vice Presidents of the Labor Union: Mr. Uong Quang Huy, Ms. Nguyen Kim Thanh, and Ms. Dinh Thi Thanh Binh.
Labor Union of EVN meet and work with Taiwan Power Trade Union delegation (China) on afternoon of September 23rd.
In his speech at the meeting, Mr. Do Duc Hung, President of the Labor Union of EVN, affirmed the strong relationship between the Labor Union of EVN and the Taiwan Power Trade Union (China). The two parties have regularly exchanged delegations to learn from each other’s experiences. The Labor Union of EVN is very pleased to welcome the Taiwan Power Trade Union delegation to visit and work with them.
The leadership of the Labor Union of EVN also wished the Taiwan Power Trade Union (China) delegation a successful visit and work session in Vietnam, achieving many positive results.
Mr. Tieu Huyen Chung, General Secretary of the Taiwan Power Trade Union (China), expressed his gratitude for the warm and hospitable reception from the Labor Union of EVN, while also expressing a desire to promote cooperation between the two trade unions in the future.
During the meeting, the leaders of both sides spent considerable time exchanging information about the state of the power industry in Vietnam and Taiwan. Vice President of EVN, Mr. Pham Hong Phuong, informed the delegation about the overall scale of Vietnam's power system in general and EVN in particular, as well as EVN's development orientation for the near future. In the context of projected rapid increases in energy and electricity demand in the coming years, along with the goal of ensuring energy security, EVN is also actively participating in the energy transition process, contributing to the nation's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
Mr. Tieu Huyen Chung, General Secretary of the Taiwan Power Trade Union (China), also shared the advantages and challenges of the power industry in Taiwan. Taiwan is also focusing on developing renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power, including rooftop solar power. This is a common area where the power industry in Taiwan (China) hopes both sides can share and exchange experiences to work towards the common goal of energy sector development.
Additionally, the two sides also shared information about the organizational structure and operations of the Taiwan Power Trade Union (China), as well as efforts to care for and protect the rights of union members and workers. They discussed working conditions, the work environment, funding sources for union activities, and methods for promoting and encouraging union member participation.
As part of the program, the delegation from the Taiwan Power Trade Union (China) also visited the Vietnam Electricity Industry Tradition House. During the visit, the delegation expressed their admiration for the long history of building, fighting, and the resilient spirit of the power industry workers throughout history. They were also highly impressed by the scale, development, and modernization of the Vietnam Electricity industry.
