The Kick-off Ceremony will attract about 3000 volunteers with various attractive and dynamic activities in order to communicate the campaign and call on the public to support the National Target Program on Energy Saving and Efficiency in general and the Earth Hour 2017 Campaign in particular.

Later on, between March 3rd and 25th numerous communication activities will be performed all over the country to promote the public’s support to the Earth Hour 2017 Campaign with the message: “Lights off to turn on the future”.
For example, “Connecting businesses and Earth Hour 2017” campaign will be carried out in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, in order to appeal to and encourage about 2000 businesses to support the campaign by committing to power saving in their manufacturing facilities, plants, factories; committing to on-grid electricity consumption declination at peak hours, etc.
In 63 provinces and cities, handbooks on power savings will be distributed to households by volunteers. This activity not only encourages people to save power for one hour in the light of the Earth Hour 2017 Campaign, but also provides people with fundamental knowledge on economical and efficient energy consumption.
At the same time, in the framework of Earth Hour 2017 Campaign, interactive activities with students and pupils will be performed at schools in order to intensively and extensively communicate the campaign and enhance the communities’ awareness on power savings and environmental protection, in which students and pupils will play core roles.
In addition, cycling activity in response to Earth Hour 2017; banner hanging, poster installation, slogan displaying for the campaign are jointly performed by the Organization Committee in coordination with the local authorities and power companies all over the country.
Lights-off Ceremony of Earth Hour 2017 will be held from 20h00 - 21h30 on March 25th at the August Revolution Square in Hanoi.
Earth Hour is a worldwide movement initiated by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) with the aim of improving the public awareness of combating climate changes and energy savings all over the world, being organized for the first time in Sydney in 2007.
Vietnam has been engaged in the Earth Hour since 2009, and so far the Campaign has received broad supports and positive responses of the Government, organizations, businesses and individuals nationwide.
In 2017, Vietnam Electricity continues to join the Earth Hour Campaign as a main sponsor in Vietnam.
