Mr. Dang Hoang An – EVN’s President and CEO – says that: In 2016, organizations under EVN conducted a lot of scientific and technological studies and introduced highly workable initiatives applicable directly for production activities with practical benefits, for examples: Studies on trial production of RTUs for power plants; Composite technology application for protecting surfaces of equipment systems of coal fired thermal power plants; Studies on insulation leakage current surveillance methodology for power lines and manufacture of equipment for online and real-time monitoring and recording leakage currents; Studies on measurement equipment (power meters), etc.
Regarding information technology applications, EVN has upgraded and effectively employed software systems commonly shared to serve for production and business management, governance, for examples: E-Office; customer management system; financial, material management systems; electronic billing system; measurement database; investment and construction management software, generation resource and network technical management, etc.
Together with many other synchronous solutions, scientific and technological applications contribute to securing adequate and safe electricity supply to the socio – economic development, enhancing work productivity as well as investment, business efficiency, environmental protection. In particular, with respects to customer services, indicators on interruption duration (SAIDI), interruption frequency (SAIFI), handling duration for electricity provision, etc. decline considerably. The average customer satisfaction point of EVN as a whole in 2016 is 7.69/10, 0.42 higher than 2015.

Widespread implementation
According to Mr. An, in 2017, the theme “Promotion of scientific and technological application” is selected with the aim of vigorously realizing and developing scientific and technological applications in governance, management and operation of the power system, business and customer service, investment and construction in order to boost the reliable operation of power system, production and business efficiency closely attached to environmental protection.
To this end, EVN shall focus on carrying out studies, projects on scientific and technological advance application in the real management and operation in all stages from generation, transmission to distribution. More specifically, EVn shall develop an electric technology development strategy and orientation, information technology development plan for the period 2016 - 2030; apply science and technology to ensure implementation schedules of projects on strengthening reliability and efficiency of the power system operation; renewable energy development projects; smart grid development programs, etc.
In addition, information technology applications will be promoted in management and governance such as: ERP finalization in the second quarter of 2017; software programs for power plant investment and construction management; implementation of electronic office study for administrative management of the whole EVN at level 4. EVN sets specific targets for every subsidiary and requests the subsidiaries to pay attention to technological solutions for environmental protection, work productivity improvement such as: emission mitigation in thermal power plants, completion of many unmanned substations, electric hot repairs without interruption, etc.
