The conference was held in the both live and online form, with the participation of nearly 2,000 businesses and customers from 27 provinces/cities in the North.
Economical and efficient electricity use is a national policy
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Trinh Quoc Vu - Deputy Director of the Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that the power demand growth forecast in 2022 is 11.5% and in the 2022-2025 period is 10.36%. Therefore, in parallel with the exploitation of primary energy sources, economical and efficient energy use plays an important role in ensuring national energy security.
Mr. Trinh Quoc Vu - Deputy Director of the Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development Department affirmed that energy-saving plays an important role in ensuring national energy security.
EVNNPC’s conference accompanying power customers is an opportunity for the Ministry of Industry and Trade to accompany localities, agencies, the Power sector and power customers to jointly define goals, contents and solutions to implement efficient and economical electricity use solutions in the coming time to ensure consistency, synchronism and strong participation of all levels and sectors from central to local in the implementation of programs, directives and resolutions of the Party and Government on economical and efficient electricity use in the coming time.
According to Mr. Vo Quang Lam - Deputy General Director of Vietnam Electricity, energy-saving in Vietnam has been codified by the Economical and Efficient Energy Use Laws; Electrical Law; Law on thrift practice and waste combat; National program on economical and efficient energy use; Directive 20/CT-TTg dated 7 May 2020 of the Prime Minister. In particular, Resolution No. 55-NQ/TW dated 11 February 2020 of the Politburo also stated that economical and efficient energy use and environmental protection must be considered an important national policy and responsibility of the whole society.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Chuc - Vice Chairman of Ha Nam Provincial People's Committee committed to accompanying the Power sector and businesses in implementing local electricity-saving solutions.
Electricity saving will bring great benefits to businesses, households as well as the country. Specifically, in 2020, Vietnam has 2,961 key energy facilities, with an average total power consumption of 72 billion kWh per year, accounting for 33% of the total national power consumption. If these facilities save at least 2% of annual power consumption, on average, the country will save 1.4 billion kWh per year (equivalent to about VND 2,700 billion). 28 million households across the country each year consume more than 30% of the total electricity consumed nationwide (76.7 billion kWh in 2021). If 28 million households save 1% of power consumption, each year the whole country can save 767 million kWh (equivalent to VND 1,428 billion).
Locals and businesses are committed to accompany
According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Chuc - Vice Chairman of Ha Nam Provincial People's Committee, the province has 10 commitments with investors, of which power commitment is the first criterion in investment attraction policy. Over the years, EVN, EVNNPC and Ha Nam PC have made important contributions to investing in and completing power grid infrastructure, ensuring a safe and uninterrupted power supply. In particular, the Power sector has actively coordinated with localities to promote the economical and efficient electricity use program on a large scale.
According to Mr. Vo Quang Lam - Deputy General Director of EVN, when businesses and households effectively save electricity, it will bring great economic value.
To use electricity economically and effectively, reducing pressure on peak load capacity during peak hours, Ha Nam province hopes that businesses in the area will join hands with the Power sector to have appropriate production plans and improve energy efficiency. Ha Nam province is committed to accompanying and supporting businesses in the economical and efficient energy use program in general and the demand management and load adjustment program in particular.
Leaders of EVN and EVNNPC give gratitude gifts to businesses with excellent achievements in the electricity-saving and DR movements
Over the past time, with the companionship of power customers, every year, the electricity-saving output of EVNNPC has averaged from 1.5% to 2% of the total commercial electricity output. Especially, from 2019 up to now, the number of businesses with 1-3 million kWh/year consumption output voluntarily participating in the DR program has increased. If in 2019 only 2,440 customers were participating, in 2021 it has increased to 3,225 customers.
According to Ms. Do Nguyet Anh - Chairman of EVNNPC’s Member Board, in the past 5 years, EVNNPC has always been the unit with the highest commercial power growth rate in the country. By the end of 2021, EVNNPC's commercial power reached 81.8 billion kWh, an increase of 9.31%, nearly 3 times the commercial power average growth in the country and the unit with the largest commercial power output in the whole EVN.
Entering 2022, it is expected that the power-supply demand of customers will recover and strongly grow. Therefore, together with the efforts of the Power sector, EVNNPC looks forward to continuing to receive the companionship and sharing of many power customers.
